PASSOVER SEDER 2006We celebrated our first Seder dinner as a church family on Maundy-Thursday of Holy Week. About 40 adults and children gathered to remember the Passover, and to celebrate how Jesus is our Promised Messiah, and our Passover. We remembered the story of the Exodus and Christ’s journey to the cross on our behalf, and we affirmed that Jesus represents all the promises and hopes of Israel, for a Deliverer and Savior. We ate grapes, matzah bread, roast chicken and lamb, and bitter herbs to remind us of God’s provision, of how Christ’s body was broken for us, and of how painful life can be and is without God in our lives. We drank grape juice as a reminder of Christ’s blood that was spilled for us, and of God’s blessings for us and His gift of salvation. We praised God for His gift of Jesus, and we sang songs in Hebrew to celebrate the grace of our God. We look forward to celebrating the Seder again each year, and we hope you will join us for that special time. SPECIAL OFFERING AND FUNDRAISING FOR MODULAR REPAIRSThe Session is working hard at implementing a plan to finish repairs to our modular as soon as possible. The expenses for the repairs thus far have been in addition to our normal budget and have totalled $10,000.00 so far this year. A member of our church family has volunteered to pay for the cost of new carpet. We may need to spend another $1,500.00 for further repairs. Because these rooms are used by the entire church, the Session invites each family of our church to contribute to the costs of the repairs in order to offset the expenses and rebuild our church reserves. Please pray about giving in this special way. Checks can be made to the church earmarked for modular repairs.DINNER & BLANKETS Several hand-crocheted or hand-knitted blankets were donated for a raffle to raise funds for the repairs. See them now. They were raffled-off at the Deacon Dinner April 12th (no need to be present to win.) Also raffled: homemade candy, and gift baskets.
